The Qatar Model United Nations (MUN) has concluded for this year. Students, both returning participants and newcomers, dedicated considerable time to preparing. Before the conference officially began on the third day, they explored local sites, including mosques and Qatar's largest museum. Once the MUN started, students engaged in lively debates and discussions within their assigned committees.
One participant shared their experience:
"As the Albanian ambassador in the Security Council, I was the main submitter for a resolution. This involved giving numerous speeches and working extensively to gain support for its passage. Of the five resolutions submitted, mine was the only one that passed. The Security Council's permanent members—the United States, China, the United Kingdom, France, and Russia—wield veto power, meaning any one of them can block a resolution. Therefore, it's essential to carefully consider their opinions when drafting.
I'm fascinated by the varying rules across different committees in international MUN conferences. Although this was my second time participating, I felt I grew significantly more than last year. My prior experience in domestic MUN conferences proved invaluable, enabling me to make a substantial leap forward. I also enjoyed reconnecting with friends from last year and experiencing the unique atmosphere of an international MUN."
