Model United Nations Kumon

The rules and procedures of the MUN are quite complex and it takes time to understand how the conferences are run. On top of this, the conferences are held in English which can be daunting for many students.

To address this problem, a conference is held at the school in Japanese. This provides a stepping stone where students can learn about MUN without having to worry about English. Once the procedures of a MUN conference are understood, students can then move towards an English MUN conference.

A typical conference is attended by over 60 students from all grades. The are also a number of students from other schools. The most striking feature of the conference is that it is almost entirely organized, planned and staffed by students. The MUNK programme has been a great success, with many students rising to speak in debate and many more rising to make points or ask questions. As a Japanese MUN simulation it works extremely well and it is a rewarding experience both for beginners, who learn how to lobby and debate, and MUN veterans who have the chance to run their own conference.

MUNK International

In 2012, the MUNK programme was expanded to two days, with the second day being conducted entirely in English. The second day has been named "MUNK International"
